" Recipient of 56th Annual Louis Braille Corporate Recognition Award"
AI is the "Buzz" word nowadays..We often hear how it helps in Automating task, providing insights/predictions which wasn't possible before and algorithms that make robots think like humans. But i always wondered how it helps humanity..this search made me come across an Israel startup called "OrCam".
OrCam was founded by Mr. Amnon Shashua and Mr. Ziv Aviram, who are the co-founders of Mobileye ( Intel acquired it for around 15 Billion) . Orcam's product "MyEye" is revolutionary in the sense it helps people who are visually challenged people by identifying faces and objects. In the sense they act like hearing aids for the visual world.
"MyEye" is basically made of a small camera and a microphone that can fit into a pocket which is clipped to a pair of spectacles , so whenever the user points to a object the AI algorithm converts/captures this visual interprets it , processes it and voices what the user actually sees.
The company is now valued well over 1-2 billion. In 2016 they received 56th Annual Louis Braille Corporate Recognition Award also OrCam’s new "MyEye 2.0" has been shortlisted for a Health and Innovation Award at this year’s Wearable Technology Awards.
This clearly shows that AI is here to make our world a better place to live and help address basic issues that we face. Check out their website @ https://www.orcam.com
